Here are some of my projects:
My cyber attack map - Some friends and I built this.
- My original blog write-up on the Honeypot/Map setup is here
- If you want to run your own honeypot that sends info to the map, or consume the firehose of raw honeypot data directly via hpfeeds, check this out.
- GitHub stuff:
- My GoLang HPFeeds client can be found in my Golang-Stuff repo if you just want to get the raw attack data
- Relies heavily on Modern Honey Net (now basically unsupported)
- Our WebGL animation was forked from arcan/encom-boardroom
- Some middleware to get data from MHN to the Map.
Software Defined Radio Training: Get access to the pre-recorded version of the course today!
This includes access to a document with suggested hardware and software
to use, and the lecture compares some of the features. Watch it as many
times as you want.
I have a blog entry up about the NEMO Project, though development is "done" as of earlier this year. All of the source code, pre-compiled binaries and documentation about installing it to the device are in GitHub.
Stickers are up for sale! Show your support for my shenanigans and get some awesome slaps to show support.
Here's where you can find me:
The HiR Blog (You are kind of already here, on a sub-page of it)
Instagram - Cats, hacking, radios, cars and retro-computing stuff. I am most active here for the time being.
YouTube - A mixed bag of computers, electronics and car repair videos
Twitter - Cybersecurity and leadership musings
The HiR Blog - I have been the editor-in-chief of HiR since it was an e-Zine in the 1990s. A few others write articles here with me.
Mastodon - Almost entirely UNIX and aethetics
Discord - I mostly hang out with SecKC and RF Hackers - both have discord links on their websites. I'm @ax0n#3338
IRC - Find me idling as ax0n on libera.chat - usually in #openbsd
GitHub - I don't write a lot of code, but you can see a few things I've worked on.
Encrypted Email - Please use my PGP public key (fingerprint: 0x64212f305a355321) to get in touch with me. My email addresses are included in the key description. I suppose you can use those email addresses in the clear if you're not cypherpunk.
Meatspace - I am active in Austin's so-called "Hacker Scene" and depending on circumstances, you may find me among the attendees at ATX 2600, AHA and other local meetups.MOTD:
Here are some functions I add to my .bash_profile to help me do OSINT on IP addresses and BGP routes (ASNs).

About me: My background is pretty diverse.
Industries: I've worked in retail, foodservice, biomedical, academia, luxury goods, financial tech, cybersecurity consultancies and even video games.
Experience: I've done hardware repair, systems administration, embedded systems, firewall support, penetration testing, incident response, forensics, audit, and counter-fraud. I recently pivoted from video game anti-cheat and DevOps to more formal cybersecurity operations in the video game industry.
Personal life and hobbies: I am first and foremost a husband and a cat dad (okay, and I'm also a tarantula and snake dad, too) After that, I am a fearless tinkerer. Ham radio, information security, electronics, microcontrollers, auto repair/hacking/maintenance, programming, retro-computing, making music and being outdoors are among the many things I do with my free time. I take copious notes about everything.
I am a published writer. My works have appeared in periodicals, peer-reviewed academic journals, and employer-published white papers alike.
